BIRD: The Vector Flight Series
Parametric Motion. The Geometry of Air.
“Bird” is the debut piece in a new series of digital line art that explores the intersection of mathematical algorithms and the grace of nature. By utilizing complex vector transformations, I have captured the “echo” of flight—turning the simple silhouette of a bird into a rhythmic, undulating form that feels as though it is moving across the screen.
The Vision: Digital Parametricism
Deeply influenced by the architectural curves of Zaha Hadid, this series moves away from static sketches and into the world of “Calculated Motion.”
-
The Transform Filter: Each line is not merely drawn; it is generated. By applying iterative transforms in Adobe Illustrator, I create a “cascading” effect where each stroke is a mathematical evolution of the one before it. This mirrors the Fibonacci sequences found in the wing structures of real-world avian species.
-
Minimalist Sophistication: By stripping away color and texture, the focus remains entirely on the Line. The result is a clean, modern aesthetic that fits perfectly in minimalist, tech-forward, or high-fashion environments.
-
Architectural Weight: Despite being a digital file, the “Bird” carries the same structural integrity as my Stone-Couture or Paper sculptures. It is an exploration of how a 2D line can suggest 3D volume through sheer repetition and curve.
Technical Mastery: The Digital Process
-
Vector Drafting: Creating the primary “source” path that defines the essence of the subject.
-
Algorithmic Iteration: Using the Transform filter to dictate the scale, rotation, and move-increment of the lines, creating a sense of “Parametric Growth.”
-
Precision Engineering: Refining the anchor points to ensure the final digital file remains crisp and infinite in its scalability.
