THE WILDEBEEST: The Paper Study
Architectural Purity. The Geometry of the Silhouette.
“The Wildebeest: Paper Study” is a deep dive into the skeletal grace of the natural world. While its sister piece in the collection is “forged” in a heavy, metallic Stone-Couture finish, this sculpture is stripped back to its most essential form: Pure White Paper. It is a celebration of the line, the curve, and the mathematical perfection of the Fibonacci spiral.
The Vision: Paper Parametricism
In this version, I have removed the texture and weight to focus entirely on the Architecture of the Form.
-
The Hadid Influence: Inspired by the “liquid” curves of Zaha Hadid, the paper folds create a seamless, aerodynamic flow. Without color or “metal” to distract the eye, the focus remains on how light and shadow interact with the sweeping, parametric surfaces of the snout and horns.
-
The Fibonacci Skeleton: Every structural facet of this Wildebeest is calculated using the Golden Ratio. This creates a “Natural Geometry” that feels balanced and alive, even in its most minimalist, white-on-white state.
-
A Sculptural Ghost: This piece acts as a “3D Sketch.” It represents the transition from a flat pattern to a physical force, offering a clean, modern aesthetic that fits perfectly in minimalist or high-fashion galleries.
Technical Mastery: The Construction
-
Precision Engineering: Utilizing the same complex 3D pattern as my metallic mounts, but executed in high-grade, archival-quality paper.
-
Structural Origami: Hand-folding and bonding each “Parametric Facet” to create a rigid, self-supporting structure that defies the perceived fragility of the medium.
-
Monochromatic Depth: By keeping the piece entirely white, I allow the environment’s natural lighting to “paint” the sculpture with shifting shadows throughout the day.

A Dialogue of Form
“The Wildebeest: Paper Study” is for the collector who values the “Blueprint” as much as the finished building. It is a sophisticated, intellectual statement piece that proves the most powerful art starts with a single, perfectly calculated fold.
