“Camille LoPresto” is a centerpiece of my Dry Brush Oil on Canvas collection, created as a special 80th birthday gift for a woman whose life is defined by family and resilience. This portrait was designed to be more than a likeness; it was created as a companion piece to a memorial portrait of her husband, John LoPresto Sr., allowing them to hang together once again in their family home.

The Story of the Commission

I began this project as a surprise for Camille’s landmark birthday. Having met her son, John, in 2021—shortly before his father’s passing—I felt a deep responsibility to capture Camille’s spirit with the same reverence I gave to the portrait of her late husband. Seeing these two pieces reunited provides a powerful sense of closure and a lasting visual legacy for the LoPresto family.

Technical Mastery: The Dry Brush Technique

To honor the soft, timeless beauty of the subject, I utilized the specialized dry brush oil technique. This method allows for a level of delicate detail that traditional wet-on-wet painting cannot achieve:

• Luminous Skin Tones: By building up micro-layers of oil paint with a dry, stiff brush, I achieved a soft, natural glow that radiates warmth and character.
