LADY IN PURPLE: The Royal Synthesis

The Fourth Movement. A Study in Wisdom and Transformation.

“Lady in Purple” is the sophisticated conclusion to my 2020 Lockdown Series, standing alongside its sisters in Pink, Gold, and Ultramarine. Created during a time of global stillness, this piece represents the “Synthesis”—the moment where the vulnerability of the soul meets the power of the creative mind.

The Vision: Chromatic Wisdom

In the language of color, purple has always represented the bridge between the physical and the spiritual.

• The Sovereign Palette: Utilizing deep violets, plummy magentas, and soft lavenders, I wanted to capture a sense of “Royal Calm.” This is the color of an artist who has moved past the raw nerves of the initial lockdown and found a new, empowered territory.

• The “Glow” Technique: Using my signature Dry Brush Oil method, the subject’s face appears to be illuminated by a light source that is not quite of this world. The transition from the deep purple shadows to the luminous highlights of the skin creates a “velvet” texture that is soft to the touch and the eye.

• A State of Grace: Like the other pieces in the series, the subject is depicted in a state of high-focus or deep meditation, suggesting that true freedom is found within.

The Vision: A Work in Progress

As this piece currently lives in my studio, it continues to evolve as I “brew” new 3D concepts.

• The 3D Future: I am planning to incorporate Stone-Couture elements to create a “Crowned” effect—perhaps 3D textures that mimic crystalline structures or architectural lace.

• Tactile Depth: By using Acrylic Skins in varying shades of amethyst and ultraviolet, I intend to break the 2D plane, allowing the “energy” of the purple to physically ripple off the canvas.

Technical Mastery: The Foundation

1. Dry Brush Oil: Meticulously applied with minimal medium to achieve hyper-realistic detail in the eyes and a seamless, porcelain-like skin finish.

2. Layered Glazing: A focus on building depth through transparent layers of purple to create a “lit-from-within” atmospheric effect.
